 Earlier this year, it was revealed that LeRoy, a young and mysterious literary phenomenon, was really the creation of Albert, a 40-year-old woman living in San Francisco. In an interview with the Paris Review earlier this year, Albert discussed her reasons for creating LeRoy, whom she does not consider a “hoax” but a mechanism for coping with childhood abuse — not unlike the abuse described in LeRoy’s novels. |
